It’s judgment: knowing when to act, when to defend, and when silence serves the client better, especially when the facts are still unclear and the pressure to respond is immediate.

That judgment was honed inside the rooms where it’s tested. She began in the White House and on presidential campaigns, then spent more than a decade advising corporate, labor, and trade association clients on regulatory exposure and reputation at a national public affairs firm. She returned to government as Communications Director to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, guiding communications through federal-local conflict and a federal shutdown. Most recently, as an operating executive at Monumental Sports & Entertainment, she counseled ownership on media strategies through the first sovereign wealth fund investment in U.S. professional sports, a media network acquisition, and a closely watched arena renegotiation — a period in which the enterprise’s published valuation grew from $3.3B to $7.8B.

Anu also builds AI into the communications function not as a shortcut, but as infrastructure for monitoring, intelligence, and faster decision support. She’s built automated news-monitoring systems and recognizes where machine speed should end and executive judgment should begin.
